A big welcome to our 2021 summer interns, Freya and Josie! We’re thrilled to have both of these bright and creative young women join our team.

Hi there! My name is Josie Lappegaard (right), and I am from Red Wing, MN. As of this spring, I am a recent graduate from Luther College down in Decorah, Iowa. I spent my years in Decorah earning degrees in both Psychology and Visual Communication as well as a minor in Nordic Studies. While at home, I am looking forward to spending my summer with United Way as well as being with friends and family before I head off to Seattle, Washington to earn my master’s degree in Business Administration from Seattle University. I am excited to tackle this new challenge, but in the meantime, I am thrilled to be working to support the mission and purpose of the United Way. Here’s to a meaningful and impactful summer!

Hi, my name is Freya Nelson (left) and at United Way I am the Blue Bookshelf Coordinator, AmeriCorps ERI Member, and Intern! I am an incoming senior at Gustavus Adolphus College where I am studying Political Science and Business Management, with an emphasis in pre-law. What I am most excited about this summer is working alongside members of the community to creatively ensure that books are accessible to all. In my free time I enjoy running, camping, spending time with friends, and traveling. A trip I am really looking forward to is studying abroad in Sweden next spring semester!
